GNOC – Global Network Operations Center
(NOC) is a centralized office within a telecom/IT operator where Network Engineers can sit and monitor all the network infrastructure. The Network Engineers work in different shifts (day and night) to maintain a 24/7 active monitoring routine to ensure network and service uptime. The NOC also works as the Backoffice support for field maintenance personnel. The NOC is usually located in the same geographical location as the network operator, but with the coming of the outsourced business model, the NOC function can be outsourced to a company outside the operator’s geographical location, a model that is also known as the “Global Network Operations Center (GNOC).”
GNOC (pronounced “G Knock”) is a centralized management location where complex Telco/IT networks are monitored 24×7. Using remote access tools like VPN, GNOC Engineers can access and monitor remote networks. For example, the GNOC can be located in India but able to monitor network infrastructure located in Europe.
