– stands for shared risk link group
– it’s a technology used to improve the link reliability and increase the speed of service rerouting
– it represents the fibers inside the same cable , line , route
– since all fibers within the same cable having the same risk Level, we can not use them to protect each other
– for example if cable cut occurred . all fibers inside the cable will cut too so all traffic carried will be down
– in ASON , we use traffic restoration and traffic rerouting , so we can’t use main and standby fibers within the same SRLG
– so we must configure the Links sharing the same risk in to SRLG
– that is done to prevent the LSP after ASON service rerouting to take the back up Link from the SRLG
– protection : backup Link should be reserved to protect the traffic in case of main Link failure , fast process
– restoration : it’s real Time rerouting, based on routing protocol path calculations like OSPf TE and rebuild New LSP
– LSP : label switched path : it’s the logical traffic path created by RSVP
