- F1 interface connects a gnb Centralised unit to the gnb Distributed unit.
- This is applicable to the CU-DI split base station architecture.
- The control plan of the F1-C allows signalling in between the CU-DU,whereas the user plan of the F1-U allows the transfer of User application data.
- Below figure illustrate that User Plan and control plan protocol stack belonging to the F1 interface.
- Control plan uses the SCTP over IP and User plan uses the GTP-U over UDP over IP.
- Transport layers are the same as those used for the Xn interface.
