Like DHCP for IPv4, there are 2 timers in DHCPv6 leases
• T1 – Renewal Timer
̶ Percentage of the preferred-lifetime that the client waits before contacting the DHCPv6
server that originally granted the lease to RENEW the address to extend the lease
̶ Typically 50%
• T2 – Rebind Timer
̶ Percentage of the preferred-lifetime that the client waits before sending
a REBIND to any available DHCPv6 server to extend the address lease
̶ Typically 80%
