• IPv6 Router Advertisements (RAs) are required to make DHCPv6 work
• RAs include flags which indicate what type of dynamic addressing is valid for the network segment the client is attached to
• For Stateful DHCPv6, the router flags should be set as follows:
̶ A – Indicates SLAAC can be used
̶ M – Managed Address Configuration i.e. DHCPv6 is available
̶ O – Other Configuration i.e. other configuration information (e.g. DNS server
IPv6 address) is available through DHCPv6
