• SOLICIT – A message that is transmitted by a DHCPv6 client from it’s link-local address to the multicast address to find servers that are willing to offer an address and configuration parameters
• ADVERTISE – A message that is transmitted by a DHCPv6 server in response to a ADVERTISE to offer a client an IPv6 address and configuration parameters
• REQUEST – A message that is transmitted by a DHCPv6 client from it’s link-local address to the multicast address in response to an ADVERTISE that the client wishes to accept
• REPLY – A message that is transmitted by a DHCPv6 server to a client to confirm the use of the parameters requested by the client in a REQUEST message
• RENEW – A messages that is transmitted by a DHCPv6 client to the DHCPv6 server after T1 to extend the lifetime of assigned addresses and obtain updated configuration settings
• REBIND – A messages that is transmitted by a DHCPv6 client to the multicast address after T2 (client didn’t get a response to it’s RENEW messages) to extend the lifetime of assigned addresses and obtain updated configuration settings
• RECONFIGURE – A message sent by a DHCPv6 server to a DHCPv6 client to indicate that the server has new or updated configuration settings. The client then sends either a RENEW or INFORMATION-REQUEST message
• INFORMATION-REQUEST – A message sent by a DHCPv6 client to request configuration settings (but not addresses)
