SAPC stands for Service-Aware Policy Controller
(SAPC) is a component of the Ericsson Packet Core solution. It is based on the 3GPP Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) and Policy Control Function (PCF). It supports the increase of revenue through personalized services and the optimized utilization of network resources. It is responsible for the policy control and charging rules that define the services and applications supported in mobile, fixed, and converged networks. It is also a central piece of the dual-mode 5G Cloud Core solution.
Some use cases of SAPC are:
• Personalized service offering: SAPC allows service providers to easily launch creative offers based on a wide set of parameters (such as user profile, time of day, location, service type, charging characteristics, and so on) to increase service usage and establish stronger customer relationships as a result of better usability.
• Network optimization: SAPC enables service providers to optimize network resources by applying policies that control bandwidth allocation, quality of service, and traffic prioritization based on subscriber profiles and network conditions.
• Service differentiation: SAPC supports service differentiation by enabling service providers to offer different levels of service quality and features to different segments of customers or partners.
• Customer engagement and interaction: SAPC can be integrated with other applications such as Salesforce and Slack to automate customer interaction and engagement by sending notifications, alerts, and messages based on customer actions and events.
