NPaaS stands for Network Platform as a Service.
(NaaS) is a concept that aims to enable network as a service (NaaS) by managing the exposure of an extensive set of network capabilities through APIs (application programming interfaces). NPaaS comprises the set of technologies that allow developers to access and use the features and functionalities of 5G networks, such as network slicing, quality of service, edge computing, location services, and more. NPaaS is an evolution of CPaaS (Communications Platform as a Service), which provides communication services such as voice, video, messaging, and chat.
Some of the benefits of NPaas are:
- It generates new revenue streams for CSPs (communication service providers) by offering network capabilities to developers and enterprises.
- It creates new value for developers by enabling them to deliver innovative and differentiated applications that leverage network capabilities.
- It improves user experience and satisfaction by providing customized and adaptive network services that meet user expectations and needs.
- It supports network automation and orchestration by allowing network functions to register themselves and discover other network functions through a centralized network repository function (NRF).
