Here are some tips to help you ace your next DevOps interview:
• Research the company. Review the organization's website to learn about current projects or challenges you can contribute to and discuss these during your interview.
• Prepare a portfolio. Share a brief portfolio of work to highlight your most successful software builds using the DevOps methodology.
• List questions to ask. Prepare some questions to show your interest and curiosity about the role and the company.
• Review coding and programming concepts. Brush up on your technical skills and be ready to demonstrate your proficiency in DevOps tools and practices.
• Be presentable. Whether on a Zoom call or in person, act as though you are meeting a high-profile client. Dress smart (but comfortable), and make sure your background is clean and as free from distractions as possible.
• Be punctual. Don't just be on time – be early! It’s always best to arrive 15 minutes ahead of your interview.
• Be polite. Be polite and kind to everyone you speak with, from the receptionist to recruiter to hiring manager.
• Be probing. Ask questions! It's as much of an interview of them as it is of you.
• Be personable. You may well be speaking to your future colleagues – so it’s best to build rapport from the get-go! Try to avoid generic small talk. Instead, look for meaningful points of connection.
I hope this helps you prepare for your DevOps job interview. Good luck!
