CloveStorage

TECS CloveStorage is a distributed storage platform developed by ZTE based on the open source distributed storage system Ceph. It uses a high-performance, high-reliability, and high-scalability design concept to organize the local storage resources of generic hardware into a fully distributed storage pool through the software system.

The TECS CloveStorage architecture consists of the following components:

• The TECS CloveStorage Controller is the core component that provides the basic storage management functions, such as authentication, authorization, resource orchestration, service catalog, billing, monitoring, etc. The TECS CloveStorage Controller is based on the Ceph core services, such as MON (Monitor), MGR (Manager), OSD (Object Storage Daemon), etc. The TECS CloveStorage Controller also integrates some ZTE-specific enhancements and extensions, such as ZTE VIM (Virtual Infrastructure Manager), ZTE VNFM (Virtual Network Function Manager), ZTE NFVO (Network Function Virtualization Orchestrator), etc.

• The TECS CloveStorage Node is the component that provides the storage resources for the cloud environment. It consists of physical servers that run OSDs and store data objects on local disks. The TECS CloveStorage Node communicates with the TECS CloveStorage Controller through the MON and MGR services to receive commands and report status. The TECS CloveStorage Node also supports hardware acceleration technologies, such as SSD (Solid State Drive), NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express), to improve the performance and efficiency of the data storage.

• The TECS CloveStorage Gateway is the component that provides the access interface for the cloud environment. It consists of physical or virtual servers that run RGW (RADOS Gateway) or RBD (RADOS Block Device) services to provide object storage or block storage interfaces for upper-layer applications and services. The TECS CloveStorage Gateway communicates with the TECS CloveStorage Controller through the MON and MGR services to receive commands and report status. The TECS CloveStorage Gateway also supports various storage features and functions, such as S3/Swift compatible API, multi-tenancy, encryption, compression, erasure coding, etc.

The TECS CloveStorage architecture is used for building and managing cloud environments that can support various scenarios and requirements of different services and applications in the 5G/IoT era. For example, TECS CloveStorage can support eMBB (enhanced Mobile Broadband), URLLC (Ultra-Reliable Low-Latency Communications), mMTC (massive Machine Type Communications), MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing), etc.
