• DHCPv6 is an updated DHCP specifcation that works with IPv6 clients
• DHCPv6 was first defined in RFC 3315, superseded by RFC 8415
• In IPv6, there are 3 types of dynamic addressing:
̶ StateLess Address AutoConfiguration (SLAAC)
̶ Stateless (DHCPv6)
̶ Stateful (DHCPv6)
• Note: not all operating systems currently support Stateful DHCPv6
