What’s a VFL?

Visual Fiber Locator (VFL) is a device made of visible-to-eyes LED or incandescent bulb whose core functionality includes continuity check,verify signal path and faults troubleshooting through transmitting laser ray down the fiber core.

What about tracing greater distances?
Built with different wavelength and output power,most VFLs cannot withstand large distances(As per photo,Mine is 650nm and 10mW capable for only up to 5km).

So what’s the alternative?
Power meter and OTDR under real time mode can be used as substitute methods though it becomes heavily hard situation and time consuming.
